Run
V1:
Far too long have I quietly sat by and watched each day fade away
And far too long have I failed to see that I'm complacent with grace
But now I refuse to simply let the world spin by
Your mercy's called my name and it's time to rise
Chorus:
So I run to the cross
And I fall on my face
Bowing down before the holy Lamb of God
Who took my place
And I run to Your arms
To just be still in Your embrace
Mighty, omnipotent One
Lord, to You I run
Lord, to You I run.
V2:
Far too long have I built my house on the sand of earthly things
And far too long have I stowed away this heart that I now bring.
How you could love someone like me I'll never know
How divine, how amazing, this adoration I've just gotta show
Chorus:
So I run to the cross
And I fall on my face
Bowing down before the holy Lamb of God
Who took my place
And I run to Your arms
To just be still in your embrace
Mighty, omnipotent One
Lord, to You I run
Lord, to You I run.
Song facts:
Chorus written this past summer while lifeguarding (it can get pretty boring), first verse written..about 2 minutes ago. I'll get around to another verse later. Of course, I say that about every song. Oh well. This song was inspired by a video of the development of the Passion conference (started by Louie Giglio who is a totally awesome preacher). The video showed a segment of "Better is One Day:Live", which was the first Passion event. In the segment, these guys brought out this ginormous wooden cross and stood it up in the grass near the stage. Hundreds of teenagers literally ran and fell on their face at the foot of the cross. It was so awesome. Sooooo I decided to write a song about it!
I FINALLY WROTE THE SECOND VERSE! :op
